about

This is a dead simple 3 chord love song which reflects on how a chance meeting can, if you're lucky, change your world forever and life is never quite the same again. I actually wrote the bones of this song 3 or 4 years ago and, when singing it to my ladies, I was trying to describe a little melody that would go in there as the song developed and just started singing 'Budda Budda' to fill in the gaps where I intended words to go. It became known as The Budda Budda song from that point and it works. I suppose it's fitting as the theme of the song is really a happy accident and quite often the best things are just that :)

The techy bit for (other) detail freaks:-
Recorded in Presonus Studio One V4 using a Focusrite Clarrett. Vocals recorded through a Shure SM7b. Guitar was a PRS Stripped '58 through a Kemper using a Selah Sound Matchless profile and the wah was one of their Fender Twin profiles. Bass was my old Yamaha, Acoustic was a wonderfully cheap and cheerful Tanglewood close mic'd with a condenser. Mixed using Izotope Neutron and Ozone, drums were Toontrack EZ Drummer, reverb was a Slate Versbsuite classic, delays were Echoboy from Soundtoys.

lyrics

V1
I started walking down a long foggy lane
The mist cleared a girl appeared with one thing on her brain
With heels like that on legs like those that lead to who knows where
I look away I look right back I look up in despair
And I want to say
Yes I want to say

Chorus
Come home baby and you’ll be mine
We’ll do lots of things and they’re all mighty fine
First we’ll do that and then we’ll do this
Come home with me baby I’ll fill your life with bliss
Come on……

V2
So she came home and what can I say?
Made each other happy in every single day
We filled the days with laughter and we filled the nights with love
I thank the sun I thank the moon I thank the stars above
And now I can say
And now I can say

Chorus
You’re home baby and you’ll be mine
We’ll do lots of things and they’re all might fine
First we’ll do that and then we’ll do this
You’re with me now and you fill my life with bliss

Middle 8 (the doowop bit)
If fate on that day hadn’t walked down our street
We’d have missed out on this love that’s so sweet
You and me

V3
I don’t know what the future holds at all
Don’t do horroscopes don’t have a crystal ball
But we should stick together through the thick and through the thin
Cos I can’t see the place where I end and you begin
And I want to say
And I have to say

Chorus
Stay with me baby because you’re mine
We’ll do lots of things until the end of time
First we’ll do that and then we’ll do this
Look into the future I see a life of bliss
Come on
